The purpose of this project is to explore a shifting perspective that implies that the viewer is not fixed in space. I layered photographs that I took of architectures and the model, and arranged them into one image using different blend modes and transparency, respectively. The color combination I chose are tragic colors (YG, BV and RO), and complementary colors (Y and V). The organization of saturation, value, hue of color creates movement and emphasis. The Ballerina IV

The real challenge for taking this set of images for The Ballerina is to set up a studio setting in my apartment and work with a low budget DIY backdrop, reflection boards, filters and different lighting sets. The black background really helps to bring out the rainbow eye makeup inspired by the movie Black Swan. The idea I had for this third set of images is to combine the beauty of modern city lanscape and graceful classic ballerina. The rooftop I chose is not only facing the beautiful quad but also has a unique modern industrial look. I also designed Mackenzie’s makeup and outfit to create more visual emphasis. The Ballerina II

This is the original inspiration for the whole photography project of The Ballerina. I was intrigued by the idea of a ballerina in her tutu dancing in the street. Mackenzie was a talented and brave model, and that vintage bookstore was a truly beautiful surprise. My personal favorite spot is the sunny reading room at the second floor.
