Chair Model Making

chair1chair2_BAI1140 _BAI1143 _BAI1153 _BAI1180In this assignment I learned and practiced and explored methods of model making and scale. This is 1:5 scale model of Gerald Summers’ plywood armchair. I picked this chair because I love the idea of making the whole chair out of one-piece plywood. I honored the original chair and the designer by using lamination as the main method of model making. I used three layers of bristol board glued with Elmer’s glue-all. The lamination jig was made out of blue foam covered with clear tape. I finished the model by several coats of yellow spray paint.
